UPDATE: It’s not too late to contact your senator by telephone or e-mail.

From Fox News:

The Senate was to begin debate on [Sen. Ben] Nelson’s amendment, reflecting the House language, on Monday, although the senator said he doesn’t expect a vote before Tuesday. The amendment appeared unlikely to gain the necessary 60 votes in the 100-member Senate, according to numerous lawmakers.

Senator Nelson’s amendment seeks to inject language into the Senate’s version of health care reform similar to the House’s Stupak amendment. Pro-aborts are keen to keep this language out, partly because they desire to increase the number of abortions performed annually (via health insurance for women’s “reproductive needs” to the previously uninsured). This financial interest is especially important for abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood, which is having to close down some facilities due to plummeting income.
