Rep. James Clyburn admitted today that he and other Democrats in the House voted in favor of Stupak/Pitts just to get the health care reform bill, H.R. 3962, to pass. Here’s the scoop according to The Hill:
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said he believes that the amendment restricting federal funding for abortion will eventually be removed during conference with the Senate’s bill. “I think that’s what’s gonna happen,” Clyburn said during an appearance on MSNBC when asked if Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) amendment would be removed.
Which confirms many a suspicion this morning.
