How did New England get to be so liberal? As I mentioned here, you can blame it (partly) on those arch-advocates of individualism and intellectualism, the Puritans.


Interesting. The Colonial South was mostly CofE I think, and has probably always been more conservative than New England. Even within the ECUSA today, Southern 'piskies are a conservative lot, such as Falls Church Parish, et al in Virginia, the Diocese of South Carolina (+Mark Lawrence) and the Diocese of Central Florida (+John Howe).
